Editor’s note: We granted the Machesney Park writer’s wish to remain anonymous to protect her son.
I have wanted to thank Judge Kathryn Zenoff, so when I saw that she was nominated for “Rockford Woman of the Year,” I knew that this was the time to send out a shout her way.
My son, who has had a history of trouble, became incarcerated after turning 18. I began to speak to people through the court system about “TIP” court. I found out that Zenoff was over this court for the mentally ill who became involved in the court system due to their behaviors and illnesses. Thank God for this court!
Because of the efforts of Winnebago County, Janet Wattles, Roscrance, Stepping Stones and others, people who need the right kind of help are given a chance to make things right.
Yes, she is just one of the many, but thank you, Judge Zenoff, for caring and seeing that somewhere, somehow, you can and did make a difference in other’s lives. I know, for my son was not lost in the cracks but found and is living a life that he is accountable for and able to now do.
— A very grateful mom
