It’s nomination time for Rockford Woman of Year

Rockford Woman magazine is seeking nominees for Rockford Woman of the Year. The recipient will be honored at an invitation-only reception. Finalists will be named in the January 2009 issue, with the reception at the same time. The honoree will be featured in the following issue.
The Rockford Woman of the Year will become a member of the magazine’s advisory board and help select future women of the year.
The honoree will be the woman who best exemplifies the mission of the magazine:
Fosters community conversations among women in the Rock River Valley.
Shares the earned wisdom of women in their own words.
Delights in the things that make women who and what they are.
Celebrates women who teach others to strive and achieve beyond their limitations and challenges.
Reflects the diversity and values of women.
Helps women manage their lives efficiently.
On occasion, has a rip-roaring good time.
The deadline for nominations is Sept. 30. Nominees will be collected in these ways:
The magazine staff will select one woman each issue to be the featured guest for “In My Own Words.” Women in this closing feature of the magazine are automatically qualified.
Readers may nominate women via e-mail (shendricks@rrstar.com), our Web site (rockfordwoman.com) or mail (Rockford Woman of the Year, Magazine Editor Shelley Hendricks, 99 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61104).
Nominations should include the nominator’s name and contact information; the nominee’s name, contact information and brief biography; and an explanation of how the nominee exemplifies the mission of the magazine.
The Rockford Woman Advisory Board will select five finalists. Readers will vote at rockfordwoman.com to choose the winner.
